Measuring Euro-Style (Facing side) Sling Chair Fabric
Measuring Facing side or Euro-Style Sling Chair Fabric
Regular Slings vs. Facing side or Euro-Style Slings… What’s the Difference?
Answer: It’s All About the Frame-Sling Configuration!
Regular slings (facing upward) feature edge pockets where plastic rods (spline) are inserted. The fabric is then simply
slid onto the sling frame without additional folding.
Facing side or Euro-Style slings also use plastic rods, but their design works differently. Typically, the rod (spline)
is smaller, so the pocket holding it is also more compact. The rod (spline) is inserted into the frame, and the fabric
is folded once—giving this sling its distinctive "euro-style" configuration.
⚠️It is necessary to remove your old slings to measure—this instruction applies only when the rails are facing sideways.⚠️

Tools & Materials Needed
✔ Measuring tape
✔ Old sling fabric (removed from the chair)
✔ Calipers or ruler (to measure the plastic rod)
✔ Replacement fabric (compatible with euro-style slings)
Step 1: Remove the Old Sling Fabric
1. Leave the rails in place – Only remove the fabric, not the metal or plastic frame rails.
2. Take out the plastic rod – Gently pull the rod out of the pocket in the old sling fabric.
NOTE: If your fabric is torn or damaged, you can cut it vertically ONCE. When measuring, join the 2 parts together.
You can use tape to hold the parts together while you measure.
Step 2: Measure the Fabric Width
- Lay the old sling fabric flat.
- Measure only the visible width (Top Width and Bottom Width).
Step 3: Measure the Rail Length
- Use a measuring tape to measure the full length of the rail from top to bottom.
- This ensures the new sling will fit the frame properly.
Step 4: Measure the Plastic Rod
- Euro-style slings use smaller rods than standard slings.
- Check the diameter:
- 7/32" (0.22 inches) – More indicated;
- 3/16" (0.18 inches) – Less common;
Step 5: Choose the Right Replacement Fabric
Euro-style slings require thinner fabrics because of the small rail opening.
✅ Compatible Fabric Codes:
- FS, F8, F2, FT – Best for euro-style slings (thinner & flexible).
❌ Avoid These Fabric Codes (Too Thick):
- FW, FP – These may not fit into the small rail opening.
